Muna Al Gurg delivers keynote address at Expo City on Emirati Women’s Day

On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, Muna Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson and Director of Retail, delivered the keynote address at the Women’s Pavilion in Expo City Dubai. The celebration, held under the theme ‘Thriving cities begin with thriving women,’ was opened by HE Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of Expo City Dubai Authority.
As a recognised leader in the UAE’s business and social landscape, Muna Al Gurg reflected a journey of advocacy and collective progress. During her address, she shed light on the UAE’s significant strides in gender equity, noting that ‘women now make up 66% of public sector workers’ and hold ‘50% of the seats’ in the Federal National Council.
Her address was part of the special event ‘Her city, her future,’ which celebrated the vital role Emirati women play in shaping inclusive and people-centred communities. The event also featured a number of panels with prominent Emirati women discussing their roles in urban planning, sports and culture.
Muna Al Gurg concluded with a message of empowerment, stating, “When a woman is empowered, her community is empowered, her society is empowered, her nation becomes stronger.” She added that “every girl deserves more than a seat at the table, she deserves the chance to build the table and decide who sits at it.”
