Easa Saleh Al Gurg

FOUNDER

Easa Saleh Al Gurg, our Founder and late Chairman, was a distinguished personality who was dominant in various fields of activity including politics, business and diplomacy. He was known and admired for his sharp intellect and trade acumen.

He started his journey as Emirati businessman with an exclusive partnership with Grundig, incrementally increasing the Group’s portfolio to include several global names such as Siemens, British American Tobacco and Unilever. The Founder’s focus was to create a competitive and expertise-rich conglomerate with an emphasis on efficiency in operations, customer happiness, development and value-addition for our partners.

Besides his business interests, our Founder also played a significant role in shaping the history of the UAE as a member of the Deliberative Committee of the Trucial States Development Office. In 1971, he was appointed as the Executive Director of the Trucial States Development Board.

He was Ambassador to the UK & the Republic of Ireland from 1991 till 2009. He was awarded CBE (Commander in the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 1990. On retirement from the Ambassadorship, he was awarded KCVO (Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order) by Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. He was also honoured by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE, with the Order of Zayed II in 1997.

Today the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group proudly carries forward his legacy which was based on courage, integrity and timely risk taking. He believed in challenging the status quo and pushing the envelope in all his endeavors from business to philanthropy.
