King Charles III inaugurates new wing at Oxford for Islamic Studies

HM King Charles III recently visited the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies to inaugurate a new wing and education programme named in his honour. Dr Raja Al Gurg, ESAG’s Chairperson & Managing Director and member of the Centre’s Board of Trustees, was among the prominent guests present for this significant occasion.
The Centre is dedicated to the advanced study of Islam and the Muslim world, serving as a bridge between Western and Islamic scholarship. The King, who has been Patron since 1993, emphasised the Centre’s commitment to dialogue, deep understanding and mutual respect. This visit marked the Centre’s 40″ anniversary.
The event brought together trustees, students, alumni and interfaith representatives. Senior Oxford University members, including the Chancellor Lord William Hague and Vice-Chancellor Irene Tracey, were also in attendance.
