Private sector partnership key for art growth

The second edition of ‘The Art of Dialogue’ titled ‘A Collector’s Journey’, highlighted the importance of art as a form of identity, the UAE as a regional art hub and the impact of patronage in the arts community. A respected art patron, His Excellency Al Nusseibeh, Minister of State and Director of Sheikh Zayed’s Press Office discussed his own beginnings as a collector and future aspirations for the art scene in the Middle East. The discussion moderated by art advisor and cultural strategist Myrna Ayad, was attended by key representatives from art organisations in the Emirates and leading figures in the art world.

In the session, H.E. Al Nusseibeh discussed the importance of educating the future generation about the region’s rich arts and culture scene. The minister also spoke about the great strides of the UAE leadership in nurturing the local art scene and the creation of a viable ecosystem that fosters regional and international art. The dialogue also touched on how it is time for the private sector to join the conversation in a more sustainable way, making art more accessible and affordable and fostering the art culture across the wider society.

H.E. Al Nusseibeh said: “Art is a universal language that allows us to better understand our human condition. It is one of the major forces of cultural expression developed over centuries by humanity, on a perennial quest to explore the mysteries of our existence. It joins the whole range of other forms of creative energies, including music and literature that elevates our personal lives and make our world a better place to live in.”
