Muna Al Gurg participates in NYU Abu Dhabi strategic philanthropy symposium

Muna Al Gurg, Vice Chairperson and Director of Retail, joined global leaders at NYU Abu Dhabi’s Strategic Philanthropy Initiative symposium exploring the evolution of philanthropy in the MENA region.

She participated in the panel alongside Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, the Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, Badr Jafar, UAE Special Envoy for Business & Philanthropy and Fadi Ghandour, Founder and CEO of Wamda Capital, discussing ‘The Coming of Age for Strategic Philanthropy in the MENA Region.’

The symposium launched ‘A Comparative Study of Strategic Philanthropy in MENA and Beyond,’ outlining 12 key themes driving the evolution of giving, including funder collaboratives and prize philanthropy. The study reveals that 89% of global experts expect Africa and Asia to drive the most significant surge in philanthropic giving over the next 25 years.

Against the backdrop of the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history, estimated at $68 trillion globally, the region is poised to benefit from transfers exceeding $1 trillion within the next decade.
